Pearl Jewelry Picks for the Office and Everyday Wear

May15

I'm happy to go to work - because I get to wear my pearls!

I'm happy to go to work - because I get to wear my pearls!

You can put away that Whoopee cushion, and stop making prank calls to your boss’s mobile phone … there are other ways to make your job bearable, even on the worst days!

If you’ve ever needed to pray for strength and fortitude to deal with some of the people that you need to at work, you’re welcome to borrow from my strategy. You are how you dress … and pearls are classy, understated, and never say the wrong thing. They also never giggle at whoopee cushions! You’ll have to take them off for that :-).

So, here are our top picks for pearl jewelry for the office, for inner strength and outer style!

Pearl Earrings -

Black Akoya Pearl Earrings

Black Akoya Pearl Earrings

Akoya pearls earrings are often neatly sized and quite manageable for office and everyday wear. They won’t catch on anything, and have a lovely subtle look. They are also extremely affordable as everyday pieces. The black ones shown go with just about anything you would wear to the office (unless you wear a knotted tie, wingtips and a blazer, which would make you male and therefore unsuitable for pearl earrings!). 6mm pieces in AA+ grade start at just $55.00!

Golden South Sea pearl earrings

Pearl earrings have such a low gem weight per piece that you can often afford to get much higher quality pearls than are affordable for bracelets and necklaces. The golden South Sea pearl earrings shown are a great example.

Pearl necklaces -

Necklaces are preferable to bracelets as office wear, since they won’t be chipped and possibly broken while you’re working with your hands. Even typing will take its toll on a pearl bracelet! They really are best for when the most strenuous thing your hands are doing is holding a glass of champagne.  We love the South Sea Pearl necklace shown as an alternative to the traditional strand, with its graceful, singular look.

Colored pearl necklaces are also a great way to introduce subtle individuality into your work day. Inspire creativity with pieces like the lavender freshwater pearl necklace shown, and accent the boring black suits that they force you to wear!

Are Pearls Outdated and Cliche?

April27

Well there is certainly a trend in jewelry that favors pearls, all the numbers indicate a big rise in pearl sales over the last few years. They have also been popular for 100’s of years, so they aren’t a fad. This means they went end up at the bottom of the jewelery box a year from now but will actually get a lot of use.

Anybody that says pearls are outdated and passe must live in a cave - many celebrities have been wearing pearls, from Ashley Simpson to Michelle Obama. In fact is almost a requisite for woman to entire politics these days, we’ve all see the huge south sea pearls they are wearing.

We even see a lot of men sporing pearls, though mainly of the Tahitian variety. We’ve seen a big rise in men wearing pearl pendants, bracelets, rings and cufflinks as late and it looks like a trend that will continue.
