A pearl ring with a protective setting

A pearl ring with a protective setting

This is a spectacular Tahitian pearl ring
with a novel and extravagant design. A
wave of diamonds curls across the top
then turns back towards the ring where
it began to blend back into the band. As
the band comes back up the other side
diamonds again finish the trip forming
something like a figure eight. The ring
contains 29 diamonds in total. Not only
is this a brilliant pearl but the dramatic
setting with it makes it a remarkable piece
sure to turn heads.

Pearl rings

Pearl Rings can be used to showcase a more magnificent pearl or simply to match pearl jewelry elsewhere on the body. They tend to run expensive as they are often set with other diamonds or gemstones. Generally, the pearl is set in a ring made of gold, silver, white gold, or platinum.

A ring is a great solution for a uniquely large pearl that cannot be easily matched, especially if the pearl has a flat side (button pearl) that can be hidden by the ring. A pearl ring can be given as an engagement ring as an alternative to a diamond, but such a practice is really only considered appropriate for a woman whose birthday is in June, the month for which the pearl is the birthstone.

Pearl rings are not particularly suitable for every day wear. Pearls are not as robust as gemstones and may be easily damaged when the wearer accidentally knocks objects with their hand. Consequently, pearl rings tend to have protective settings.
